About Auroras

Meet the Edmonton Auroras family!

The Edmonton Aurora Artistic Swim Club has been a cornerstone of Edmonton's aquatic community since 1981, providing athletes with a platform to excel in the art and sport of artistic swimming. The club supports a pathway that begins with grassroots programs and progresses through advanced club-level training, offering expert coaching and a supportive environment to develop technical skills, artistic expression, and teamwork. As athletes advance, they gain access to world-class facilities like the Kinsmen Sports Centre, equipping them to compete at provincial, national, and international levels. Committed to nurturing talent and fostering a strong sense of community, the Aurora Artistic Swim Club empowers athletes to thrive at every stage of their aquatic journey.

Why choose the Edmonton Auroras?

Aurora Synchro (artistic swimming) offers group and individual training for children of all ages and ability levels, from novice to national. Our goal is to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes, geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities in a positive and safe team environment. Following Sport Canada's long-term athlete development (LTAD) model, our programs implement optimal training and development for swimmers of every age and stage.

All of coaches have taken Respect in Sport for leaders and Making Head Way (concussion training)

Our Program manager/Head coach has also taken:

*Other team coaches have take these courses.

Here are some reasons to join Aurora Synchro:

1. For quality in coaching: All of our competitive coaches exceed the minimum certification level required by Alberta Artistic Swimming and have competed at the national level. We are the only club in Edmonton that can say our coaches competed at Nationals and have transferred that knowledge into coaching others. Most Aurora coaches are Aurora alumni, bringing a history of success to their athletes. Learn more about our COACHES.

2. For quality programming: The Auroras have a history of success at all levels including participation on provincial and national teams. Learn more by clicking on our NEWS Articles and checking out our facebook page. Aurora programming offers weekly cross-training activities that include diving, acro, ballet, stroke improvement, oxygen exchange training, and Alixa flexibility. Aurora Synchro programs follow Sport Canada’s sport for life (CS4L) and long-term athlete development (LTAD) programs.

3. For training at a world-class facility: Kinsmen Sports Centre is recognized as one of the best facilities in Canada to train in. There are two 50m pools as well as a deep tank. The facility is host to all aquatic high performance clubs which elevates the training environment for all athletes. We offer the convenience of training at one facility at consistent times.

4. For travel & competition opportunities: Our provincial swimmers compete within the Province, while our high performance National stream athletes compete within North America and beyond. Our provincial competitive athletes attend at least 5 competitions a season. Our National swimmers attend at least 6 competitions.
